Sunday June 30, 2013

This morning we had church at the work site. There were probably 35 people (other than our group)worshiping in the service.

This is the area that we will be enclosing two rooms with brick walls. The church is in the front of the property at street level with the pastor's house behind. The property slopes down to the lake.

After service the church people fixed us a wonderful lunch. Rice, homemade tortillas, with pollo(chicken), carne(beef), or fish- the WHOLE fish. The food was wonderful. Especially the salsa!
This picture is for Katie. It's funny to hear people riding horses down the street especially when our bedroom windows face the street with only about 3 feet of space to the street edge.

Walking down the street back to the compound after getting Gelato. Yes I ordered Italian Gelato in Spanish!

I'm still having trouble with my blog so I will hopefully write more later when it is working better.

Made it to San Antonio Tlayacapan

We made our journey with all our luggage and all our people. The weather is beautiful here! The missionary met us at the airport with a van and a truck. Only a couple of our group members were searched in customs. They wondered why we were carrying so much sugar and chocolate chips!

We are staying at the church "compound". The missionary has living quarters here then there are sleeping rooms, kitchen facilities, bathrooms, etc in a separate building. There is a large courtyard for meals. Everything is very open with indoor/outdoor space. We do have a large gate and tall fence for security. We are only a block from the main town square.
We had some relax time after we arrived. So we went to Walmart! It's around the corner. We also stopped in a small corner store to buy buns for supper. Making purchases in Spanish with Pesos takes some thinking but we were successful.

We really miss the girls and hope everything goes well at home! I'm sure the time will go fast-it always seems to.
I'm thankful to have figured out the wifi so we can communicate!
Tomorrow we will go to church in the town where our worksite will be. I'm looking forward to a lunch provided by the church ladies. Authentic Mexican food-yum!

Travel day!

Everything is going smoothly so far. We made it to Dallas and our flight is slightly later by about 15 min. Plenty of time for breakfast! This trip is truly an example of letting God be in charge of all the plans.

Lexie and Allie are ready to get to Mexico.

We had a yummy supper last night at Cheddars with all my girls and Matthew. It was sad to leave them this morning but they have lots of fun plans today. Katie is wanting to go to Exploration Place.

Happy Saturday!

Welcome back

Since my last post was three years ago, it's time to dust off the blog. It's apparent that the arrival of Ellianna has kept me super busy these past three years.

Now we are off on another experience. Mission to Mexico! It has been an experience already with the fundraising and getting passports. Now to pack and get on the plane!

Hopefully we will have enough Internet to keep the blog updated of our adventures.
See you in the south!
