It is Wednesday morning and I am just now writing the post for Tuesday. We took a walk last evening and after a skype call home, it was too late to write the post.
Lexie and Allie stayed behind on Tuesday to work on laundry. We have a wonderful washing machine and then the clothes are hung around the courtyard to dry. In the daytime they are dry in no time. But in they would not dry in an evening. So laundry will be every other day with someone staying back to take care of it. Sounds good to me, I don't like to wear wet clothes! The girls did a great job and even remembered to put in the softener on the last load - which was the socks and undies so we are all grateful for that.
Work continued at the job site both inside and out. The tile has begun inside the church and the walls are coming along. The day involved a lot of moving bricks, dirt, and cement mix. The morning was nice and cool but by noon it was close to 90 degrees. Since we stop at 3:00p, there were only a few hours in the overhead sun (sol). I will create a different post that goes into more details about the work when I have more pictures. My job most of the day was assisting a brick layer. I handed him the brick when he was ready and helped find partial bricks to fill the end of the row. I also learned to call for more mud/cement. Anything to help the brick layer to be able to just do his skill.
After supper and devotions, we walked to the square to get some ice cream. There is a taco stand on the square. The ladies cook the meat and fry the tortilla made to order. James and a couple other guys in our group decided to try the tacos. They had tripe, cerrado (pork), carne(beef steak), and lengua (tongue). They were all tasty but I didn't try the tripe. The salsa's to put on top were also yummy!
We also learned that before 9pm it is Buenas Tardes but after it is Buenas Noches! I'm sure we are a sight to see with a bunch of gringos walking around the town square. Although we are learning this is an area that many Americans frequent or live.
Adios for today and more updates later.
